We have met the Enemy and He is Us.

When I was 16 years old, almost 17, I had sex for the first time and almost got caught in the act. The girl was willing, if almost as inept as myself but we somehow managed to stumble through the act and get it done.

A couple of years later I found out that she had done the act with the husband of the first girl I ever kissed(but never had sex with) and this time, she got pregnant. Not wanting the child she took the only course open to her and had a backyard abortion. Got infected, lost her uterus to save her life and never had a baby to call her own.

Is this what you want to go back to? Is this what the GOP is trying to encourage? Look no further than Guatemala if you want to see the results of your policies:

Damn, how dumb can you be? How many times to you have to learn the same lesson the rest of us figured out in 1973? And thought we had put an end to it? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roe_v._Wade

Get over it GOP.

You do not control our bodies anymore than you control our minds or politics.

  1. Hmmm, I'm prochoice, but at the same time, I feel that abortion is too often used as birth control. In this day and age there is protection from unwanted pregnancy in every drug store and hell, every grocery store... In past decades when birth control wasn't so readily available, abortion was the only alternative for some women. Now, responsibilty should be the first line of defense, not abortion.

Do I want to roll back the laws to the days of backyard abortions? Obviously not. But I do wish people would take the necessary precautions (condoms, IUD, birth control pills, patches, etc) first and leave the abortions for a last resort not a first choice.
